Scaffolding - Teachers provide students with necessary instruction and support by constructing instructional scaffolds that take individuals from where they are in their understanding to the next step or stage in their learning process. Instructional scaffolds must be designed to bridge the gap between what learners know and what they can do and the goal or skill they are attempting to achieve. Instructional scaffolds should be flexible and temporary. Scaffolds may be constructed for individuals, small groups or large groups, depending upon the task and the students’ needs.
