Education Priorities:

Education – general support and capital projects.
Annual grants are given only to arts, educational and social service organizations that have a historical connection to the John S. Pillsbury family.

Other interests:

Culture, health and welfare, environment, and the disadvantaged.
Capital and one-time gifts are considered from organizations in the Minneapolis, Minnesota, area.

Deadlines:

The deadlines for consideration of grants are April 1, for decision at the summer meeting of the foundation, and October 1 for consideration at the December meeting of the foundation.

Program Focus:

The Southways Foundation is a general foundation, interested principally in education, culture, health and welfare, environment, and the disadvantaged.

Geographic Focus:

The foundation accepts grants that are regional in nature relating primarily to the Minneapolis and St. Paul metropolitan area. Grants made outside Minnesota generally are matching grants to grants given by family members.

$1,000 to $25,000
