Early Childhood Educator Professional Development Program

The purpose of Early Childhood Educator Professional Development grants is to provide high-quality professional development programs to improve the knowledge and skills of early childhood educators and caregivers who work in early childhood programs located in high-poverty communities and who serve primarily children from low-income families in order to promote school readiness and better learning outcomes for these children.

Teaching American History

The program is designed to raise student achievement by improving teachers' knowledge and understanding of and appreciation for U.S. history. Grant awards will assist LEAs, in partnership with entities that have content expertise, to develop, document, evaluate, and disseminate innovative and cohesive models of professional development.

Women's Education Equity Act

This program promotes educational equity for women and girls through competitive grants to public agencies, private nonprofit organizations, institutions, student groups, community groups, and individuals. The program designates most of its funding for local implementation of gender-equity policies and practices. Research, development, and dissemination activities may also be funded. Projects may be funded for up to four years.

Examples of allowable activities include: Training for teachers and other school personnel to encourage gender equity in the classroom. Innovative strategies and model training programs in gender equity for teachers and other school personnel. Instruments and methods to assist local education agencies in replicating exemplary gender equity programs in their own district. School-to-work transition programs. Guidance and counseling activities to increase opportunities for women in technologically demanding workplaces.
