Arts in Education
Model Development and Dissemination

The program supports the development, documentation, evaluation, and dissemination of innovative, cohesive models that demonstrate effectiveness for: Integrating and strengthening arts into the core elementary and middle school curricula; Strengthening arts instruction in those grades; Improving students' academic performance, including their skills in creating, performing, and responding to the arts.

Funds must be used to:

  • Design programs to improve or expand the integration of arts education.
  • Develop materials designed to help replicate or adapt arts programs.
  • Document and assess the results and benefits of arts programs.
  • Develop products and services that can be used to replicate arts programs in other settings.

Professional Development for Arts Educators

This program supports the implementation of high-quality professional development model programs in elementary and secondary education for music, dance, drama, and visual arts educators. Funds support innovative instructional methods, especially those linked to scientifically based research.

Projects include professional development programs for teachers working in high-poverty schools. Designed for K-12 arts teachers, programs must focus either on the development, enhancement, or expansion of standards-based arts education programs or on the integration of arts instruction into other subject area content.
